Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD’s) are infections. You can get STD’s through sexual contact; vaginal, oral or anal.
More than 20 STD’s have been identified so far.
Most STDs are easily cured if they’re caught early.
Unfortunately, many people don’t seek treatment because they have no symptoms and thus don’t even know they have an infection.
Other people have symptoms, but don’t go to the doctor because they are embarassed or don’t realize that their symptoms are a warning sign of a serious infection.
This is tragic, because untreated STDs can cause severe health problems and may even result in death.
Also, when left untreated, they’re likely to continue spreading from one person to another.
Laboratory test can help your doctor detect most STDs but these infections can’t be diagnosed unless you decide to seek medical help.

Are Undetectable Viral loads still infectious?
Swiss study that stated that a person with an undetected viral load was non-infectious. Link to discussion.
Contradicting that Swiss study was a French study that found detectable viral loads in the semen of some men who had undetectable viral loads in their blood further complicating this issue.
Is HIV Superinfection a real threat?
What about the possibility that someone already living with HIV could be infected with another strain of the virus? This is called HIV superinfection. Is this a concern or just a theory? How could we study this? The Gladstone study in San Francisco attempted to do this. Report from the Gladstone study. Explaining the difference between coinfection and reinfection from The Body.
Are some people immune to HIV
The majority of HIV strains in the USA use the CCR5 receptor to attach to the CD4 T-Cell. Some people don’t have this receptor. Another strain of the virus uses the CXCR4 receptor into the CD4 T-Cell.
Let’s face it. Sex is a fact of life. But today’s increasing sexual liberation and tolerance have resulted in unconventional practices and encouraged sexual orientations that were once considered taboo to be accepted by quite a number of people. Without passing judgement to those individuals who prefer to experiment in their sexual affairs, this liberal attitude and behavior could lead to serious consequences if parameters to a pleasurable and safe sexual activities are not observed and met. The same is also true with the general public who lacks proper understanding and appreciation of sexual health issues and standards which could lead to neglect of their partners’ sexual rights..
