Welcome to our Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival Team Fundraising Page! We’ve decided to take an active part in the battle against AIDS, and on Sunday, March 18th (at 9:30 AM) we will participate in a 5K fundraising walkathon along Fort Lauderdale Beach to address the escalating spread of HIV/AIDS in South Florida, and provide care for those already affected by the disease.

An estimated 1.1 million people in the US are living with HIV, and 15% of them don’t even know it. Florida is disproportionately affected, and while progress has been made, the rate of new HIV diagnosis is back on the rise. We won’t stop this fight until AIDS is a thing of the past! To truly make a difference, we need caring people like you to sponsor our participation in the walk. To support us, please make a donation to our campaign right here on the Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival website. (Or choose one person on our team to whom you’d like to make your donation.) Your gift to this worthy cause is fully tax-deductible. You can also register today and join our team on the walk!

To support our team with a donation, please click on the “SUPPORT US” button above.

Thanks again! Your gift makes a direct impact on my goal to save lives right here in Florida from the devastation of HIV/AIDS. Together, we are making a difference!

 ****************

Cynthia Nixon delivers a triumphant performance as Emily Dickinson as she personifies the wit, intellectual independence and pathos of the poet whose genius only came to be recognized after her death. Acclaimed British director Terence Davies (House of Mirth, The Deep Blue Sea) exquisitely evokes Dickinson’s deep attachment to her close knit family along with the manners, mores and spiritual convictions of her time that she struggled with and transcended in her poetry. Directed By: Terence Davies.  Running Time: 2 hr. 6 min.

******************

A UNITED KINGDOM is based on extraordinary true events. In 1947, Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana, met Ruth Williams, a London office worker. They were a perfect match, yet their proposed marriage was challenged not only by their families but by the British and South African governments. The latter had recently introduced the policy of apartheid and found the notion of a biracial couple ruling a neighboring country intolerable. South Africa threatened the British: either thwart the couple or be denied access to South African uranium and gold and face the risk of South Africa invading Botswana.
