As a highly accomplished HIV clinician, researcher, speaker, and medical director, Dr. Ana Maria Puga brings her extensive specialty experience in pediatric infectious diseases and the care of women, infants, children, and youth who are at-risk, living with, or exposed to HIV. Along with her deep commitment to the care and treatment for families living with HIV, Ana has advanced HIV education for healthcare professionals in Florida and throughout the country by providing opportunities for HIV preceptorships, training, and education. Acclaimed for her passion and caring as well as expertise in preventing and treating HIV, Ana has been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally for her contributions, including as Keynote Speaker at the 2004 Congressional Summit on Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities.
For the two decades that she directed the Broward county Ryan White Part D program, she also led the program’s research as Principal Investigator of over 80 clinical trials. Dr. Puga currently provides medical education throughout the United States and maintains her clinical practice weekly at Care Resource. Dr. Puga is an active volunteer in the community, as Co-Chair of the Florida Department of Health Broward’s Perinatal Network and the World AIDS Museum. As a volunteer Co-Medical Director of The SMART Ride, Ana enjoys supporting AIDS fundraising in SMART Ride’s annual 2-day bike ride from Miami to Key West.
