BARRY UNIVERSITY-
NoticeDear Long-Term Survivor or those who serve this population:My name is Paul Everett Hembd, many refer to me by middle name “Everett”. I’m currently a Ph.D. student in the Counseling Program at Barry University.I’m beginning a research project entitled ‘Grief Experiences of Long-Term Survivors of the AIDS Epidemic’ for my Advanced Qualitative Inquiries class.I am emailing to ask if you would like to participate in this research project. Or, if you would share this email and attached flyer with those that may be interested in participation or share via your online marketing.Participation is completely voluntary and your answers will be kept confidential. This study will involve a phone or HIPAA secure video interview, which should take only about an hour of your time.Participants include those who:1) identify as ‘long-term survivors’,2) have lived with an HIV diagnosis twenty-five years or longer, and 3) have lived experiences with the AIDS epidemic. The purpose of this study is to understand the grief experiences of long-term survivors of the AIDS epidemic, as this is a subject with relatively little research. The findings from this study may provide valuable insight to counselors and other helping professionals serving long-term survivors, offer a deeper understanding of this time in history, and possibly guide considerations regarding grief and epidemics. If you are interested, please reply to my email paul.hembd@mymail.barry.edu or feel free to call me at 954-200-5187.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
