Meet the Dutchess of Hyde Park, a sweet Pekingese dog. Our friend and group member Stan Roller is looking for a home for this lovely dog. He is making arrangements for this pet due to Stan’s health condition. “My plan would be to have someone take her immediately after I’m gone. I will add a stipend for the cost of her care for whoever takes her, I’m thinking a couple of thousand dollars,” says Stan.
First a little bit about Pekingese in general. They’re a very small breed. Usually range in weight from 9 to 14 pounds. They have a lifespan of about 10 to 14 years. It’s also one of the oldest breeds they’ve been around since the Chinese emperors. And in fact at one point it was a death penalty offense to own one if you are not an approved member of the Chinese royal family. They are not yappy dogs, but will bark if they think you’re in danger (like someone’s at the door).
So if you or anyone you know that is dependable can take her please give Stan a call at 414 248 5457. Stan can be reached at email at Stan.roller.1962@gmail.com.

Stan says: “More about Duchess: I adopted Duchess in the spring of 2008 when she was about 8 months old from a small Rescue Agency. At the time she was very submissive, and in fact she still is, and had been clearly abused. I suspected a small boy had been hitting her since she was absolutely terrified of small children especially little boys. She’s much more social now but small kids still scare her. She loves other animals, and in fact I had to leave pull her back on the leash one time to keep her from chasing a coyote. This breed of dog tends to live 10 to 13 years. So she does have a little bit of arthritis. She also has epilepsy that requires no treatment and seizures happen about once a month at tops. The seizures are not anything to worry about. Although she tends to be nervous around new people she does warm up to them and is a very friendly sweet dog. My current circumstance is the only one in which I would even consider giving her up”
