This Wednesday June 20, 2018 we will have a guest speaker Nancy Mccoll LCSW who will speak on Trauma.
I feel that my clients can reach their potential. I am very open minded, empathetic and conscientious in working together with clients who I will go to great lengths for, to help them reach their potential. I work with clients to resolve issues that cause them to feel depressed and anxious. This could include self esteem or relationships issues such codependence, boundary or communication. Clint’s discomfort could also emanate from addictions which either be related to substances or behaviors. I also help my clients to resolve past traumas, which could include sexual, physical or emotional abuse which are still affecting their lives today.
I assess each person individually and apply the most appropriate techniques to help resolve their particular issues discussed above. Some of the techniques I utilize include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I provide individual. couples and family counseling to adolescents and adults.
I’ve worked many years with the HIV/AIDS community and with my extensive knowledge I have helped clients address issues about shame, compliance and chronic illness and relationships related to the diagnosis. Similarly, I helped clients within the GLBTQ community address issues of rejection from family, religious conflicts and self acceptance.

Studies suggest that 20-40%of HIV positive people meet criteria for Post-traumatic disorder which causes uncomfortable feelings. We will talk about this issue and talk about a solution for resolving those feelings from this disorder so we don’t get triggered to feel these feelings.
